As employers know well, the Form I-9 is used for verifying the identity and employment authorization of individuals hired for employment in the U.S. All U.S. employers must ensure proper completion of Form I-9 for each individual they hire for employment.
The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service recently updated the Form I-9. Starting January 22, 2017, all employers must begin to use the new I-9 Form (dated 11/14/16). The new Form I-9 replaces the prior version (dated 03/08/13)
Failure to use the new Form may result in the assessment of penalties.
You can obtain copies of the new Form I-9 on the website: https://www.uscis.gov/i-9
