Douglas Melton defends and counsels California employers with a special focus on law firms, architecture and design firms, medical professionals and other professional service providers, as well as on hospitality employers and places of entertainment. Mr. Melton counsels employers on avoiding harassment and discrimination claims, wage and hour issues, employment policies and procedures, employee handbooks, and other day-to-day legal issues. He also defends employers in litigation and administrative proceedings in state and federal courts and before the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing, and the California Department of Labor, among others. Mr. Melton regularly writes and speaks on current legal issues of interest to employers.
Mr. Melton also defends lawyers in professional liability matters and State Bar proceedings and has substantial experience in general commercial litigation.
Mr. Melton has jury trial experience as well as experience in binding arbitration and administrative hearings.
