Tahnee S. Baker



Ms. Baker’s practice focuses on the defense of lawyers, judges and employers. Ms. Baker also counsels businesses, ranging from architectural firms to banks, retailers, and other professional services providers, on a variety of employment matters including wage & hour issues, handbook policies, reductions in force and severance, and the multiplicity of issues arising from COVID-19.

Prior to joining Long & Levit, Ms. Baker gained extensive employment and traditional labor law experience through counseling and representing large public entities including within the Office of General Counsel of the State Bar of California and within UCSF Medical Center and the California Department of Social Services. Her substantive expertise includes reasonable accommodations, implementing layoffs, progressive discipline, harassment and discrimination complaints, and workplace investigations. Ms. Baker has represented entities in state and federal court and in administrative matters before the Public Employment Relations Board (PERB), State Personnel Board (SPB), Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board (WCAB), and the Department of Fair Employment & Housing (DFEH). While working in heavily unionized environments, Ms. Baker consistently developed good relationships with union leadership during both collective bargaining sessions and resolving employee grievances.

Ms. Baker obtained her undergraduate degree with honors at the University of California, Santa Barbara. She graduated with distinction from University of Pacific, McGeorge School of Law. While at McGeorge, Ms. Baker notably served as the Student Bar Association Vice President, as an Associate Editor on the Global Business & Development Law Journal, and received two Witkin Awards for Employment Law and Legal Writing.

Ms. Baker has been an active volunteer with the Justice & Diversity Center of the San Francisco Bar Association and the San Francisco Pathways to Citizenship Initiative.
